Francis Henry May, Captain Superintendent of the Hongkong Police Force, do solemnly and sincerely declare that the Chinese writings hereto attached were delivered into my hands by Hae Hang, of the Hongkong Police Force, on the 10th November 1897, and that the said writings are now in the same condition, and have not been altered, as when delivered to me on the 10th November 1897.
I further solemnly and sincerely declare that the English version hereto attached is the original version of the said writings made by me, and that the date "the 3 moon of the 17 year of Kwang Hsu" therein inserted was inserted by me in error and should, according to the Chinese text of the writings, have been "the 3 moon of the 13th year of Kwang Hsu".
